Founded in 1820, Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ is the oldest formally recognized African American Congregational Church in the world — and one of the most beloved and historic faith communities among Black churches in New Haven, CT.

We are a multicultural and progressive congregation rooted in the Black church tradition, committed to liberation, justice, and radical welcome. At Dixwell Avenue Congregational UCC, you don't just attend church — you belong to one. Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ is one of the welcoming black churches in New Haven, CT, committed to justice and making space for all people to experience God's love.
